The CID was established in 1905 as the premier investigation agency of Maharashtra State and has been undertaking serious, sensational and complicated investigations, including economic offences. These investigations are entrusted to the CID by the State Government, the Higher Courts and the Director General of Police, Maharashtra. सीआयडीची स्थापना 1905 मध्ये महाराष्ट्रातील प्रमुख अन्वेषण यंत्रणा म्हणून करण्यात आली. आर्थिक गुन्ह्यांसह गंभीर, संवेदनशील आणि गुंतागुंतीच्या तपासांची जबाबदारी सीआयडी पार पाडते. राज्य शासन, उच्च न्यायालये तसेच महाराष्ट्र राज्याचे पोलीस महासंचालक यांच्याकडून हे तपास सीआयडीकडे सोपविले जातात.
The State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) is an important division of the CID which maintains data and statistics pertaining to crime and criminals for the entire State. The CID also houses the Finger Print Bureau (FPB), the Documents Examination Bureau, and the Dog Training Centre, which render valuable assistance in investigations. स्टेट क्राइम रेकॉर्ड्स ब्युरो (एससीआरबी) हे सीआयडीचे एक महत्त्वपूर्ण विभाग असून ते राज्यभरातील गुन्हे व गुन्हेगार संबंधित डेटा व आकडेवारी संकलित व जतन करते. तपासांना मोलाची मदत करण्यासाठी सीआयडीमध्ये बोटांचे ठसे विभाग (एफपीबी), दस्तऐवज परीक्षण विभाग आणि श्वान प्रशिक्षण केंद्रही कार्यरत आहेत.
Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) is an ambitious project of the Government of India, and the CID is the nodal agency for its implementation in Maharashtra. The most important component of CCTNS is its Citizen’s Portal, which offers 25 services to citizens. ICJS (Interoperable Criminal Justice System) is an integral part of CCTNS and provides a platform for exchange of data across different pillars such as Police, Courts, Prisons, Prosecution and Forensic Labs, along with extensive search capabilities across all pillars. गुन्हे व गुन्हेगार अन्वेषण जाळे व प्रणाली (CCTNS) हा भारत सरकारचा महत्त्वाकांक्षी प्रकल्प आहे आणि महाराष्ट्रात त्याची अंमलबजावणी करण्यासाठी सीआयडी ही नोडल संस्था आहे. सीसीटीएनएसचा सर्वात महत्त्वाचा घटक म्हणजे नागरिक पोर्टल, ज्यावर नागरिकांसाठी 25 सेवा उपलब्ध आहेत. आयसीजेएस (Interoperable Criminal Justice System) हा सीसीटीएनएसचा अविभाज्य भाग असून पोलीस, न्यायालये, कारागृह, अभियोक्ता विभाग आणि फॉरेन्सिक प्रयोगशाळा या स्तंभांमध्ये डेटा देवाणघेवाणीसाठी एक समान मंच तसेच व्यापक शोध सुविधा उपलब्ध करून देतो.
Recently, as per Maharashtra State Government Resolution dated 31/08/2023, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has been established under the guidance of DGP, Maharashtra, and is supervised and controlled by the ADG, CID. The ANTF will carry out a range of tasks including cracking down on the illicit drugs trade, prosecution, and coordination with central agencies. दिनांक 31/08/2023 च्या महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या शासन निर्णयानुसार अंमली पदार्थ विरोधी कार्यबल (ANTF) स्थापन करण्यात आले असून ते डीजीपी, महाराष्ट्र यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली आणि एडीजी, सीआयडी यांच्या देखरेखीखाली कार्यरत आहे. अवैध अंमली पदार्थ व्यापारावरील कारवाई, खटल्यांची कार्यवाही तसेच केंद्र सरकारच्या विविध संस्थांशी समन्वय अशी विविध कामे एएनटीएफद्वारे पार पाडली जातील.
